Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Understanding the behavior of the magnetic head in high frequency region is indispensable to quicken the development of the high performance hard disk drive. We have developed a high-speed magnetization observation system for the evaluation of the magnetic head using the magnetic Kerr effect and the optical sampling technique. The system observes the magnetization of the magnetic pole of the head by detecting the polarization rotation of the reflected light. It can observe the temporal variation and spatial distribution of the magnetization. The spatial resolution and the measurement bandwidth of the prototype system were 0.2 mm and 5 GHz, respectively.
