Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Since figure-8 satellite always provides a high-elevation angle, it can be applied to land mobile satellite communications and provide high-quality communications with little cut-off caused by blockage. Non-tracking antennas can be used at mobile stations because of the permanent satellite visibility at the zenith. However, the figure-8 satellite will need a large aperture active phased array antenna because the satellites will be required higher e. i. r. p. to work into such low gain mobile terminal antenna. The large phased array must be lightened to be installed in satellite, so that we use microwave photonics technology to reduce the weight of the phased array.
