抄録(英) | Original configuration of periodic substrate PBG circuit has been proposed and 3-D EM simulation of microstrip line over the substrate with rectangular air blocks has been carried out. Simulation results obtained show that the PBG circuit of certain geometry produces very wide and deep stopband for microstrip guided mode but requires less number of periodic elements than the alternative microwave PBG configurations. It is shown that the PBG circuit considered can be used as a passband/stopband filter for a wide range of frequencies. Optimization of periodic element geometry may realize class-F operation of integrated amplifier for active antenna transmitter front end. Current density of the microstrip line has been calculated to demonstrate the transmission and scattering properties of PBG circuit. The presence of stopband "harmonics" leading to the multiple rejection bands of PBG circuits has been pointed out. It is proposed to use the periodic substrate PBG circuits as novel stopband filters and tuning elements in active integrated antenna amplifiers for transmitter front ends. |
