Fading Margins of Microwave Line-of-Sight Propagation in Urban Area

Abstract(in English) The short-term medians of path loss characteristics of microwave 1ine-of-sight propagation in an urban area were measured and analyzed in order to examine fading margins, which are crucial data for cell design.Measurements were made at 3.35, 8.45, and 15.75GHz with reception antenna heights of 0.5 and l.6 m along a straight street in metropolitan Tokyo. When the distance (d) dependency of the short-term medians is regressed with a d-α formula, the attenuation coefficients α are found approximately constant regardless the regression spans. Differences between the short-term medians and the regression curves follow logarithmic normal distributions. The short-term deviation and its standard deviation were evaluated.
