A study on measurement of complex permittivity by using flanged rectangular waveguide

Abstract(in English) This paper describes about an effective method of nondestructive measurement to determine the complex permittivity of dielectrics from the measured reflection coefficient at aperture by touching the flanged rectangular waveguide to a metal backed lossy dielectric sheet. The accurate electromagnetic field at aperture must be calculated to clarify the relation between permittivity and reflection coefficient for this measurement. We derive the simultanious equation which consists of unknown coefficient of each mode, with referring to the analysis method which is already presented for this structure using spectral domain analysis. It is confirmed that experimental results agree well with the theoretical results when 6 unknown coefficients are used in solving the simultanious equation. Finally, the contour chart which the permittivity of material from measured reflection coefficient of aperture can be determine is shown.
