Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, a simple finite-difference beam propagation method with very wide-angle capability is formulated to predict optical field propagation in more complicated photonic structures. Our proposed FD-BPM based on Pade series is easy to solve numerically and is easier to implement than the conventional rational-polynomial approximations. This is a principal advantage of our operator splitting implementation, since numerical solution of tridiagonal systems can be performed very efficiently. Thus, one can replace a complicated problem by a succession of simpler second difference operator and can be written as a linear sum of n pieces. This technique is applied to several benchmark problems and the results are compared with those of other BPM algorithms.
