Experimental Investigation of Propagation Control Method in Street Microcellular Systems Using 2-element Array Antennas

Abstract(in English) One effective method for making a large capacity mobile communication system is to develope a microcellular system. One way to develope a microcellular system is to place the base station antenna lower than the surrounding buildings, which is called a street microcellular system. In this system, when the base station antenna is an omni-directional type, received power attenuation has about 1/x^2 dependence on propagation distance. So, the frequency reuse interval is larger than conventional systems, hence spectral efficiency is lower than that of a conventional system. Regarding this problem, I have already presented the simulation results of propagation control methods simply using 2-element array antennas. In this paper, the experimental results of these systems are represented and using this method, we show that it is possible to achieve efficient utilization of the radio spectrum.
