Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper introduces a high dynamic range and cost effective optical-microwave transmission system for mobile communications. A novel Band-pass signal to Digital signal Conversion (BDC) technique is proposed. The BDC technique utilizes an optical on-off keying transmission. This allows commercial optical components such as Fabry-Perot laser diodes or LEDs to be used while eliminating the effects of the optical part's nonlinearity. Circuits are constructed and experimental characteristics are observed. Using the proposed technique, the maximum carrier to noise ratio (C/N) obtained 90dB and spurious free dynamic range (SFDR) is 78dB.
