Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a state transition model of software testing and debugging processes in korder to evaluate the capability of a programmer in a quantitative and objective way.The proposed model includes three states which correspond to typical activities of programmer, and has some parameters which can be used to define metrics of programmers′ capability in software testing and debuggi ng processes. In addition, this paper describes a measurement environment which automatically collects and analyzes data of programmers′ activities from workstations in software development. The measurement environment estimates the parameters of the proposed model, especially the timing of state transition, based on sequence of key stroke collected from the workstations.Analysis of Experimental evaluation in an academic environment shows the validity and usefulness of the measurement environment.
