| Abstract(in English) | An ultra broadband distributed amplifier has been developed for 40Gb/s optical transmission systems. 0.1μm-gate pseudomorphic HEMT and coplaner waveguide technologies were applied for a high performance and a low cost. The distributed amplifier consists of 8 sections of cascode amplifiers, which results in a broadband and very good gain flatness. As an experimental result, a high gain of 11.5dB and a broad bandwidth of 69GHz were obtained. The gain flatness was +/-0.6dB at a range of up to 60GHz. An output eye-output was confirmed for 40Gb/s signal. 3Vpp of output voltage shows the distributed amplifier can be used as an EA modulator driver. |
