Abstract(in English) We proposed a system multiplexing scheme for a single-chip MPEG-2 audio, video, and system encoder. In order to realize both high bit-rate and high flexibility, the system multiplexing unit employs a hybrid architecture with data transfer hardware and control software. The software of the unit features a scalable module structure which is hierarchically composed with expandable plug-in modules. This structure made multiplexing function possible for various encoding applications. We have applied this scheme for both DVD and DTV applications.
