| Abstract(in English) | The word muftimedia includes a wide variety of concepts and various products and services.First this paper describes the present and future of multimedia technologies in three representative fields:package media,broadcasting,and communications.Then we discuss several types of multimedia terminals.These include set-top boxes for CATV and satellite broadcasting,PC based telephonies,and some kinds of add-on boards. Discussion includes DSP vs.RISC,software based decoder vs.add-on board,and decoder vs.encoder. |
