A Study of Variable Length Basc 1-Dimension DCT/IDCT Circuit

Abstract(in English) We developed an 1-dimension DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform)/IDC(Inverse Discrete Cosinc Transfom)circuit, which has variabie length base. This circuit is practicable for shape-adaptive DCT/IDCT in obiect-based coding. The shape-adaptive DCT/IDCT will be adopted in MPEG4 Version2, intemational standard for moving picture coding and decoding. We adopted Distributed Arithmetic method and Fast Computational algorithm for this circuit, and contrived address generator of ROM, in which stored sum of partial product. This circuit contains l20K transistors and the area is 1.34mm^2, using4-metal layer, 0.25μmCMOSprocess.
