Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is necessary to predict a higher-frequency components which are lost by sampling for enlarging digital images. This enlarging digital image is equivalent to predict an unknown higher Laplacian image based on Laplacian pyramid representation. There exists a strong correlation between the layers in the Laplacian pyramid. The correlation is that the zero crossing of each layer is located at the same position, and the slope near the zero crossing is different at each layer. In this paper, we present a procedure for predicting a higher-frequency component by utilizing this characteristic. The slope of the low level Laplacian component are detected and steeper by the method. The proposed method is simple and excellent characteristic at higher resolution factor.
