Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a flash-type analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that uses resonant-tunneling ternary quantizers. By using InP-based RTDs and HEMTs, we fabricated a ternary quantizer and a 2-bit analog-to-digital converter using such quantizers. The ternary quantizer operated at 10 GHz, and a 2-bit ADC operated at 5 GSps. These results show the promise of the resonant-tunneling diodes for high speed multiple-valued circuits.
