Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Cellular Automata (CA), which processes 2D image data speedy and parallely, utilizing merged analog-digital pulse wiedth modulation (PWM) circuita techiniques is proposed. Each cell value is presented by charge amount and 8 neighbour's data are transferred by PWM signals. CA realizes 8 functions such as noise reduction, edge detection, edge extraction and also for about 5 bit gray scale images. Signed PWM signal is also proposed. Processing time per a picture is 5μs. Test chip integrates 40×50 cells in 7.5×7.5mm^2 with 0.8μm CMOS technology. Supply voltage is 3.3V, and power consumption is 120μW/cell. Moreover, we have investigated the performance of designed CA by functional simulation and circuit simulation, and have evaluated the applicablity to image preprocessing.
