Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An architecture of 2D-functional CMOS image sensor utilizing merged analog-digital circuit techniques using pulse width modulation (PWM) is proposed. Each pixel converts light intensity to a pulse width equal to the time up to ramp reference voltage meets the pixel voltage. Realized functions are serial readout, thresholding, projection operation, and block average operation. The architecture is implemented with a 0.8μm CMOS technology with 3.3V power supply. The power dissipation of each pixels is approximately 2μW, the area is 100μm aquare, and aperture ratio is approximately 10%. Functional CMOS image sensor has 56×56 pixels and 56 address ramp generators in 6mm square chip area.
