Abstract(in English) We propose a digital neuroprocessor using Quantizer Neurons for image or character recognition and learning.The neuroprocessor simulates a neural network named Multi-Functional Layered Network with a Quantizer Neuron model and has 4,736 neurons and 2 Mega synapses.A recognition performance of the neuroprocessor achieves 20.5 GCPS and 1,600 character persecond with testing board on a personal computer.It is implemented in a 1.2 um double metal CMOS process,sea of gates,the chip contains 27,000 gates on a 10.99 x 10.93 mm2 die.
