Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper discusses a comparison on processing-speed capability between optical computers and LSI computers. For the first step of the comparison,we estimate the speed of multiplying and summing operation, considering the matrix-mask type optical multiplier and the matrix-resistor type analog LSI multiplier. The ultimate speed capability limited only by noise(shot noise for the optical multiplier and thermal noise for the LSI multiplier)is considered. It is shown that the speed capability is in the same order for both of optical and LSI multipliers.
