A GHz-Band IF Si Chip-Set and Dielectric Root-Nyquist Filter for High-Speed Wireless Access Systems

Abstract(in English) A GHz-band Si-bipolar chip-set and a 1.6-GHz dielectric root-Nyquist filter suitable for IF signal processing in high-speed wireless access systems with transmission rates exceeding 10Mbit/s are described. The chip-set consists of three ICs and operates with a single 3-V supply. A logarithmic/limiting amplifier for a receiver shows a limited output phase deviation of less than 7°at 2GHz and has an RSSI with a 60-dB dynamic range. Because a flip-flop 90°phase shifter is used, quadrature modulator, and demodulator ICs show a wide carrier bandwidth of 100MHz to 2GHz without any adjustments. The root-Nyquist filter shows small amplitude and group-delay ripples. This chip-set can be applied to single-conversion transceivers for high-speed wireless access systems using microwaves to millimeter-waves.
