| 抄録(和) | 今日、半導体市場の需要の70%を占めると言われるパーソナル・コンピュータはインターネットの急速な普及もあって従来のStand alone PCからNetworked Systemになり社会の隅々にまで浸透し、会社や家庭などで誰もが使う情報端末となってきているが、一方では初心者には難解な道具として敬遠されることも事実である。そこで、万人にとって使いやすい物になるためパソコンがどのように変身していかなければならないのか、益々多機能/高機能化するマルチメディア処理によりパソコンが今後どのような方向に向かうのかを論じ、21世紀に向けてのVLSI開発研究への参考に供したい |
| 抄録(英) | While almost 70% of semiconductor demand is for PC related, PC is changing rapidly from stand alone PC to the networked PC by LAN and Internet evolution, and keep penetrating into everywhere in the society, both at offices and at homes. But it is said that information retrieval by PC is still difficult for beginners who need to start using PC as an information tool. In this presentation it will be shown how so called multimedia capabilities with higher performance/functions can improve PC's MM I/F effectively so that the PC beginners can use it much more easily and it will also show the direction where PC is going in near future as one of the discussion topics in the R&D for the 21st century VLSI. |
