Abstract(in English) A Video codec DSP suitable for video-compression algorithms such as encoding/decoding of MPEG2, MPEG1 and JPEG has fabricated using 0.4μm CMOS technology. The proposed architecture performs 2.2 GOPS operations and attained the first single-chip software programmable realtime-encoding of MPEG2 MP@ML except motion estimation. The chip was designed in standard-cell methodology with some improvements. High performance based on commodity design methodology is important in deep submicron era.
