Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An architecture of functional CMOS image sensor utilizing merged analog-digital pulse width modulation (PWM) circuit techniques is proposed. The basic ideas are analog-to-PWM conversion of each pixel value by comparing with applied reference ramp signals, and parallel addition of PWM charges by a switching current integration technique. This image sensor realizes many functions such as serial readout, parallel addition, spatial filtering, edge detection, and projection profile calculation, which are greatly useful for extracting features of figures or images. This report describes the circuit architecture for realizing multi-functions and the simulation results on basic operations and power dissipation.
