A 1.2-V, 16-bit Audio A/D Converter with Suppressed Latch Error Noise

Abstract(in English) We have improved the noise-shaping signal flow in order to solve the latch error problem at low voltage supply and have fabricated a 1.2-V, 16-bit swing-suppression A/D converter for audio by 0.5-um MTCMOS process technology. The S/(N+THD) is 91.5 dB and DR is 94 dB at 1.2-V supply and the S/(N+THD) is 89.5 dB and DR is 90.5 dB at 1.0-V supply. The power consumption is 6.5 mW at 1.2 V and 3.4 mW at 1.0 V. These characteristics are good enough for battery-operate communications and digital audio units.
