| Abstract(in English) | We have developed a DSP for MPEG4 codec. This DSP has high performance and excellent flexibility by (1) parallel processing at pixel unit and dual processors, and (2) hybrid architecture consisting of programmble DSP and dedicated engines. So, this one can perform not only MPEG4 codec but various algorithms, such as H.263, H.261 and wavelet based sub-band codec algorithms, in real-tim. Also, it has dedicated hardware for video pre/post processing in the chip and can perform the above algorithms using only one 16M bits Synchronous DRAM as external memory. It is fabricated using 0.25um CMOS technology and contains 7.7 million transistors on a 9.41mm×9.22mm die. |
