Abstract(in English) This paper describes a floating point power calculation unit suited for geometry processing in 3D graphics. The architecture utilizing a five stage pipeline structure of a logarithmic look up table, a multiplier, and an exponential look up table have contributed to reducing the hardware amount and to enhancing the speed performance of the power, the reciprocal, the square root, and the reciprocal square root. Its simulated operation frequency is more than 250MHz, where the core has been fabricated with 0.25μm CMOS technology with triple metal interconnections.
