| Abstract(in English) | We have developed a dynamically reconfigurable logic (DRL) LSI as a prototype engine for future reconfigurable computing systems. The DRL can conduct autonomous reconfiguration all by itself, on its arbitrary portion, at runtime. The reconfiguration latency is 4.6ns. This paper summarizes essential features of DRL, and gives considerations on effective ways to map applications onto DRL. As an example, we report actual mapping and measurement results of Data Encryption Standard (DES) algorithm. The DRL can run DES 6 times faster with 600 times less energy than a conventional microprocessor. |
