New Memory LSI′s with Very High Data Transfer Speed Using Optical Interconnection

Abstract(in English) Recently,the performance of microprocessor has been significantly improved.However,the access speed of DRAM which is used as a main memory has been hardly improved.As a result,the difference of the operation speed between the processor and the memories has been enlarged.To overcome such problems,new DRAM with high data transfer speed have been proposed.However,the data transfer speed and the data bandwidth of buses still become serious problems even in these high speed DRAM′s if such higher da ta transfer speed is required.Then,it is proposed to introduce the optical interconnection into these high speed DRAM′s in order to s olve these bus bottle-neck problems in improving the system performance.
