Abstract(in English) We can send information to the world easily through the Internet. However, it is hard to translate our native language into other languages. We have been researching Japanese-to-English Machine Translation (ALT-J/E), and Japanese-to-Malay Machine Translation. Recently, we also started to work on Japanese-to-Chinese Machine Translation based on ALT-J/E. This new system uses Unicode, an encoding method which can handle many kinds of characters. This paper describes a prototype Japanese-to-Chinese Machine Translation.
