| Abstract(in English) | In this paper, we describe the results of the query expansion using Japanese thesauri in information retrieval. Our purpose is to study the qualities of a thesaurus. We adopted the method of using multiple thesauri for query exparision proposed by Rila Mandala et al. Improved EDR dictionary and syntactic-relation-based thesaurus were used for query expansion. Experiments using Japanese test collection BMIR-J2 showed that the proposed method could improve the information retrieval performance. Also we discuss the effects of each thesaurus in detail. |
