Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a robust, high-speed and high-performance face image processing system, and applied it to the group conversation robot. The group conversation is a conversational style in which we talk with some talkers at the same time. In order to take part in the group conversation smoothly, we need to recognize who is speaking and to whom he is speaking. To realize this function, the face image processing, which performs the face direction and person recognition, plays an important role. The image processing system of this purpose should be robust enough in various surroundings and should be high-performance and high-speed. The former problem is solved by adaptation of skin color model, the latter is solved by using Independent Component Analysis(ICA)that suits pattern recognition and realizes the high compression rate. By using this image processing system, we realize a natural group conversation system.
