Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Shape modeling methods based on level set approach can be applied to model objects of arbitrary topology. However, they do not go far enough to computational efficiency, modeling from sparse 3-D data, and subcell accuracy. In this paper, we propose a new method of constructing a shape model of a 3-D object of arbitrary topology fast and accurately by using variable-size ball sweeping. We have successfully experimented with synthetic range images of industrial objects with holes and real images of multiple objects.
