Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes shallow dependency analysis technique for Japanese without using semantic information. The technique aims to compute a complete dependency structure but aims to compute a skeletal dependency structure. Skeletal structure is a dependency structure that might contain ambiguous blocks in which dependency relations are not able to decide without semantic information. Our system firstly computes bunsetsu structure of a sentence and secondly computes a category of a bunsetsu which represents two kind of syntactic nature of a bunsetsu. In thirdly analyzes a sequence of bunsetsu applying the bunsetsu blocking rule consequently from left bunsetsu to right bunsetsu and produces a skeletal structure. To evaluate the performance of our system, we have applied it to analyze 300 Japanese sentences from newspaper articles and obtained approximately 93% of accuracy.
