Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) DiaLeague'97 was the second dialoguecontest in which a natural language dialogue system engaged in a dialogue with a human to solve a specific problem, and was proposed as a method for objectively evaluating the overall performance of a dialogue system. This contest was held on the WWW (World-Wide Web) pages for one week, and many Internet users participated. The five dialogue systems had 728 dialogues with the users. We analyzed the 141 dialogues between our dialogue system and the users, and investigated instances of confusion observed in the 141 dialogues. We also show how the users behaved when the confusion occurred.
