Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The noun phrase pattern "NP`no'NP", whose form is consist of two uoun phrases NPs connected with an adnominal particle `no', is frequently used in Japanese sentences. The surface structures of this pattern is simple, but it has various semantic structures. For such noun phrases, the grammar is already proposed, that establishes syntactic rules and translation rules from syntactic structure to semantic structure. On this grammar, a semantic structure of a noun phrase is systematically constructed by applying translation rules related to syntactic rules. In estimating semantic structures of noun phrases on this grammar, it is necessary to infer semantic relation which is not expressing in the surface structure. We consider the statistical property of these semantic relations and noun phrases, and propose a method for semi-automatically acquisition of candidates of semantic relations from cooccurrence of nouns and verbs.
