Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The purpose of this research is to develop a machine translation system which acquires matching rules from samples of source and target languages automatically, and there after it translates the text of one language to another using these rules. At first a systematic method is considered which gets rules directly from translation pairs of two languages. For this purpose two problems, dffficulty of defining partial matching and the explosion of rule application results are pointed out.Next we develop a new method for acquiring rules between language expression and feature structure. The result of several experiments for this purpose confirm the efficiency of this method.
