Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Japanese demonstratives have three classes,"Ko","So" and "A'.A psychological distance among a speaker,a hearer and a referent has been considered as a main factor that decides which of them to use. But there are a lot of linguistic phenomena concerned with demonstratives which cannot be explained with the psychological distance alone.Especially, there are many problems not resolved in case of discourse anaphora.,In this paper,we focus on discourse anaphora and give a principle explaining functional difference between "Ko" and "So".To do this,we classify anaphora phenomena in novels and compare them with those in a chemical textbook. And then, we introduce a constraint by "sight",which are capable of explaining phenomena about discourse anaphora.
