Abstract(in English) Word prediction(completion)is an important function for on-line character recognition technology to be improved and widelv used.In this paper we deal with two methods for predicting a word from a partial input by on-line recognizer.One is a method of prediction for Kanji Japanese address.The other is that for Kana Japanese name.Both are much required items in the applications of character recognition.Also we investigated the amount of information contained in Japanese addresses and names in order to test the feasibility of our two methods.The experimental results show that the perplexities of predicted words are 1-2(the worst 16)in Kanji addresses and 5-10 in Kana names.which are acceptable numbers.
