Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Two experiments investigated effects of ″letter migration(illuso ry conjunction)″ on decisions about syllabic Dana words written wi th two letters. The task of the subjects was to decide whether the target (いか) was one of the two previously presented source charac ters(いす りか).Letter migration with Kana was affected by position consistency of the letters between the target a the source. Also, the first(left)letter consistency of a target word was significantly more prone to the letter migration than the second(right). The results were interpreted as indicating that the right letter consistency in contrast to the left does not appear to elicit Kana migration, ration, inconsistent with findings, using logographic Kanji, which showed a higher proportion of radical migration under the condition of right radical consistency.
