Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper,a new classification method for sign words is proposed. The method is based on the similarity between sign words, which is derived from the longest common substring(LCS)of manual motion descriptions(MMDs)for the sign words. It can be considered that a MMD represents information extracted from a series of motions of a sign word. By calculating feature vectors of n properties from MMDs and plotting them in the n-dimensional Euclidean space,an angle between two vectors can be considered as the similarity between the two sign words.Because the feature vector is a bit vector, the calculation of the similarity can be performed by bit operations. However, when the feature vector can be considered as a string of the MMD for a sign word, the similarity can be obtained by string matching between the two MMDs.
