Abstract(in English) | In order to improve the applicability of a knowledge-based system for document image analysis,it is generally required to equip the facility for automated knowledge acquisition.This report presents a method of knowledge acuisition based on the paradigm of ′learning from examples′.Our method is characterized as follows:1 )it allows us to generate and improve the knowledge description incrementally by generalizing given examples of documents,2)it is capable of specializing the knowledge description by the feedback of analysis errors,so that the utility of the knowledge description for the analysis is improved.The effectiveness of our method is demonstrated by experiments of both knowledge acquisition and document image analysis using the acquired knowledge.As documents for the experiments,we consider titlepages of Japanese technical papers and visiting cards,which are entirely different in layout structures. |
