Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For automatic generation of computer animation from natural language stories,we need to extract temporal relation among events, which describe which actor performs what action. However events in stories are expressed from various temporal points of view, such as ′hajimeru(to begin)′and′owaru(to finish)′.Also the temporal seq uence of events is not always equal to the textual sequence of sentences with temporal conjunctions, such as′maeni(before).′In th is paper, the analysis system of temporal relation in stories is discussed. This system uses temporal expressions in sentences to determine a relation between the beginning or the ending of two events. The temporal expressions include tense and aspect expressions, and temporal conjunctions.
