Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a distributed system model of dialogue coordination phenomena.Interleaved with ongoing dialogue, the operation of dialogue coordination consists of uses of such elements as acknowledgments, confirmations and clarification questions. It serves the purpose of forming and confirming the sharing states of information among dialogue participants. The proposed model is shown to give an account for the use of acknowledgments, function hierarchy of acknowledgments, failure backup driven by clarification questions, and implicit mutual approval based on the lack of clarification questions. It is also shown that the intepretation of mutual belief in terms of knowledge consistency can guarantee the acquisition of mutual belief by dialogue coordination.
