Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We try to explicate the role a speaker plays in utterance exchanges, using the notion of control. Interpreting a speech act as comprising two components: domain description and act description, we define the transfer of control in terms of saturation of an atomic speech act. Examples are given of expressions pertinent to the description of a speech act as realized in actual dialogue. We also introduce the concept of subatomic speech acts, finer-grained speech acts corresponding to fragmentary phrases often used in natural dialogues.
