Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Behahioral experiments have shown that monkey and human predict and learn the target dyamics during smooth pursuit eye movements. Based on physiological experiments and computational models, we have proposed that the site of prediction and learning is in the area MST. However, smooth pursuit eye movements are also driven by insufficent or muliple visual simulus. Previous models based on optimal control theory fail to account for these behabiors. This indicates that not only target dynamics but also uncertainity is represented in the brain. In this paper, we propose that the population activity of the area MST encodes the probability of the target dynamics and model the smooth pursuit eye movements based on the Bayes filter which estimate and predict a probability distribution. Our model demonstrates some behavioral experiments.
