Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Multiunit recordings from frontal cortex of behaving monkey by Abeles et al.(1993)suggested that a population firing that is synchronized within about 1msec(pulse packet)propagates over tens of synaptic connections with its high degree of synchronicity preserved.Diesmann et al.(1999)interpreted the preservation of the high degree of synchronicity as existence of an attractor in two dimensional parameter space. We evaluated changes in the degree of synchronicity with the Fokker-Planck equation and show that the synaptic noise generated by spontaneous neural activity determines the characteristic flows and the attractor in the two dimensional parameter space. Moreover, we show that interactions among propagating pulse packets achieve information processing such as coincidence detection and temporal competition.
