Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | In spite of its ill-posedness, human can quantitatively perceive a 3-D structure from contour. In this paper, we investigated how human perceives a stable 3D shape. In experiments, the height and the radius of cylinder were manipulated, and perceived slants of the upper face and the side of the elliptic cylinder were collected. The results showed that the curvature and the compression ratio of the upper face and the height of the cylinder affected slant perception. The model based on the smoothness of the surface, the perpendicularity of the angle between the upper and the side face and the symmetricity of planar shape were well agreed with the human performance. This result indicates that these prior assumptions about structure and shape will be used in an estimation of shape from contour. |
