Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A method is proposed for searching in a database of color images by utilizing browsing of clusters of images sequentially. In our method, images are partitioned by a fuzzy clustering method and prototype images of obtained clusters are arranged on a display by the quantification theory 4. A relevant cluster is selected by a searcher and the cluster is then unfolded for further navigation in detail. This hierarchical search method enables us to globally navigate for finding target images in large image databases.
