Abstract(in English) A cascade of associative memories(CASM)storing hierarchically correlated patterns is proposed.CASM is composed of the first associative memory storing ancestor patterns and the second one storing inheritance patterns constructed of the ancestors and their descendants.The inheritance patterns are sparse,and have information peculiar to the descendants.We show that memory capacity of CASM increases with a correlation between descendants of a same ancestor and is larger than that of Gutfreund's model.In addition,we consider the case where ancestors are not explicitly given.In order to automatically form the ancestors from their descendants,we give a learning algorithm to the first associative memory.Numerical simulations were conducted in order to confirm the behavior of CASM.
