| 抄録(和) | 我々は、階層的視覚神経系の最終段に位置すると考えられる下部側頭回皮質(inferiortemporal area,IT野)と、階層の初段～中段に位置する領野とでは、視覚学習が質的に相違するであろうと推定した。この推定を実証するため、本研究では中間領野として視覚第4野(V4野)を選び、麻酔下のニホンザルを用いてV4野とIT野の情報表現の可変性を比較した。IT野では、同一パターンの繰り返し呈示に対する細胞の反応が急速に、しかも大幅に変化したが、V4野では細胞の反応が比較的一定していた。このことは、IT野の情報表現がトップダウン信号のあるなしで大きく敏速に変わるのに対し、V4野の情報表現は比較的固定したものになっていることを示す。 |
| 抄録(英) | We studied variability of visual responses of cells in the brain areas V4(visual 4,an intermediate stage of the hierarchy)and IT(inferior temporal area,the final stage for object vision)of adult macaque monkeys.V4 cells gave responses of a relatively constant magnitude to the repeated stimulation with the best stimulus.In contrast,IT cells changed their responsiveness to the repeated stimulation.We suggest that this difference in response variability would reflect the arear difference of a top -down modulation:Modulation should be quick and strong in the area IT because the meaning of an object changes according to the change in behavioral context,while such modulation might only be working during early visual experience in the area V4,the function of which seems to be the feature extraction. |
